Historical Martial arts of the Victorian Age

Professor KoontzOscar Wilde Ballroom

The Victorian Gentle was often a student of the sword, pistol, cane and other methods of empty hand fighting. As such there were many authors whose discourses have continued to be studied through the ages into the modern world. We will discuss works and ideas from Colonel Thomas H. Monstery, Pierre Vigny, E.W. Barton Wright, Julien LeClerc, A.C. Cunningham, and Charles Charlemont. As well as a variety of comparative techniques from these great teachers.
With a look at the martial heroes of the day , the unique traits of the arts, and the mindset of the age, our discussion will be intriguing for the attendee.
While the use of the sword and firearms will be avoided , some demonstration of techniques will accompany the presentation.
