Scary Stereoscope Stories and other Peculiar Parlor Games

Tiffany O.Lovecraft

This will be an interactive audience experience which will start with a brief introduction for the audience to Stereoscopes and Sterographs (Picture Cards)

It will be followed by our first activity which will be Scary Stereo Stories: A Collaborative Victorian Horror Adventure
Groups will be broken up into teams of 4 to 5 depending on number of attendees.
Each team will be supplied with
a stereoscope viewer and a stereograph. The stereograph image will be used to establish the setting and their protagonist(s).
3 Victorian Villain or Monster Cards, featuring eerie characters.
A sheet of paper and a pen
Each team is tasked with creating a collaborative, spine-chilling story. They must select one of the three monster/villians to be the "visitor" to their stereograph's setting/protagonist(s).
The visitor should have peculiar, supernatural, or terrifying traits and play a key role in driving the story forward.
They are encouraged as the story unfolds to include peril, mayhem, or mischief. The goal is to create an engaging, dramatic narrative that captures the spirit of Victorian horror.
Story Rounds
Participants will be given 2-3 minutes (dependent on number of participants) to write their portion of the story. When the moderator calls time, they will fold their paper so that only the last line of the story can be seen. They will then pass the pen and paper to the next person. This continues until all members of the group have contributed to the story.
Someone from the group will then be selected to read the story aloud to everyone in the room.

Dependent on time and size of the group we will have prepared three to four other interactive parlor games. Examples include:

The Magic Lantern Show
A storyteller "narrates" while players act out a silly or improvised story behind a backlit sheet.

The King’s/Queen’s Questions:
One player acts as the "King" or "Queen" and sits on a "throne." wearing the crown
Others take turns asking them silly or ridiculous questions, which they must answer without laughing or smiling.
If the King/Queen laughs, they forfeit their position to the questioner.

Wink Murder:
One person is chosen as the "Murderer," and another as the "Detective." The rest are "Victims."
The Murderer secretly winks at other players to "kill" them. Victims must dramatically "die" upon being winked at.
The Detective tries to figure out who the Murderer is before all the Victims are "killed."
